Kollege Explosion 2009

On Saturday, September 19th 2009 the Kappa League of Norristown Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi hosted the 4th Annual Big 12 College Explosion at B. Reed Henderson High School, West Chester, Pennsylvania.  The purpose of this event is to provide information to high school students regarding the college selection process as well as financial aid information. Many of our prominent HBCU’s were in attendance as they provided students with information pertaining to their college/university. The day was fulfilled with educational workshops designed to inform students and their parents about the college process.

An Exciting Year for Kappa League

The 2008-2009 Program Year for Kappa League has been action-packed with events ranging from financial planning to community service that has enriched the lives of our youth while Training for Leadership.  Some of the events that have occurred this year are:

    

Big 12 Kollege Explosion 2008

On September 20, 2008 the Kappa Leaguers and the Norristown Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. hosted the 3rd Annual HBCU College Expo, known as the Big 12 Explosion 2008.  The genesis of this event began in 2006 with 12 Historically Black Colleges and Universities.  The event has grown to 21 HBCU’s.  The events during the afternoon included educational and motivational seminars for both students and parents.  Some of the seminars included: a Teen Summit, Financial Aid awareness, tips on preparing for the SAT’s and much more.  Many students received on the spot acceptance to some of the colleges in attendance.


 

Turkey Giveaway 2008

On November 22, 2008 the Kappa Leaguers hosted their annual Turkey Giveaway at the Salvation Army on West Gay Street in West Chester, PA. The chapter was there to support the Kappa Leaguers and provided the families with 10 Turkey baskets.  In addition, the Norristown Chapter of the Kappa League supported the Norristown Alumni Chapter in its annual Turkey Giveaway within the Norristown community as well.  The families were really thankful for the turkey baskets. It was a day of services as the brothers of Norristown Alumni and the Kappa Leaguers of West Chester and Norristown worked towards “Inspiring service in the public interest."
